7+ Point System.

7+ Point System.

Hi Gorjis,

So as you may have seen on our socials, Dihlia has put us onto the 7+ Point System and we cannot stop thinking about it.

Personally, I’m a self-identified lazy dresser. Day to day, I don’t want to think about putting together an outfit. I just want to be comfortable, clothed, and out the door so I can get on with the real stuff.

But when Dihlia got me thinking about this 7-point dressing technique, something clicked.

If you’re anything like me, you’re probably an accessory hoarder. As big girls, we’re often forced to spend our money on the things that do fit us like bags, shoes, and jewellery since clothes can be harder to come by.

Turns out, that pile of accessories? It’s actually your secret weapon. With the 7+ Point system you can make anything look like something.

What is the 7+ Point System?

The 7+ Point System is a dressing guide designed to help you feel put-together and decorated without overthinking it.

It’s not a checklist of must-haves.
It’s not about buying more stuff.
It’s about learning how to wear what you already own.

Every item in your wardrobe is assigned a point value, and when you get dressed, your goal is simply to “spend” between 7–10 points.

How do the points work?

Foundational items = 1 point
These are your simple, dependable basics:

  • Simple black pumps

  • Gold jewellry

  • A classic leather bag

  • Plain trousers

  • Solid tees

Fashion items = 2 points
These are your elevated eye-catchers:

  • Printed blouses

  • Textural dresses

  • Colourful or patterned scarves

  • Statement jewellery

  • Big coats

What counts as “foundational” versus “fashion” is personal. A black 6-inch stiletto might be someone’s everyday essential, and someone else’s wild statement piece. You get to decide.

But, If you want a general rule of thumb:

  • Foundational pieces are solid-coloured, low-texture, with only necessary notions (functional buttons, clasps, pleats, darts, zips, pockets, etc.)

  • Fashion pieces are multi-coloured, textured, or extra, with plenty of decorative or statement details.

Why does this work? (especially for us)

Regardless of what you’ve got, how you wear it, and why you love it, this guide works for everyone. The 7+ Point System helps you wear what you love intentionally, without the risk of “overdoing” it or playing it too safe. This way the things you love don’t sit in the back of your wardrobe waiting for the mythical “special outfit.”

So, if you want our TCD insight, here’s a few of our favourite styles, broken down into our new point system.
